On December 4, 2017, the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) hosted the Fall All-District Athletics Awards Banquet to honor athletes from Arcadia, Chaparral, Coronado, Desert Mountain and Saguaro high schools.
The keynote speaker was Luis Gonzalez, Senior Advisor to the President & CEO, Arizona Diamondbacks. The banquet was held at the McCormick Scottsdale, Lakeside Ballroom, 7401 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ.
This banquet was the first of three All-District Awards banquets during the 2017-18 school year.
This banquet provided an opportunity to recognize and honor the achievements – both academic and athletic – of SUSD students who took part in fall sports programs and who qualified for the banquet. Sixty-nine (69) athletes who competed on high school badminton, cross country, football, golf, swim/dive and volleyball teams were honored at the event. They included athletes from state championship teams.
Attendance was by invitation only.
The Charro Foundation awarded $500 scholarships to a male and a female All-District student athlete at each of the three All-District banquets. This banquet’s recipients were Sloane Van Zanen of Arcadia High School and Lukas Donovan of Desert Mountain High School.
All-District banquets are sponsored by Scottsdale Unified School District, Scottsdale Unified School District Foundation, Scottsdale Charros, Sports Destination Network, Inc., AZ Sports Medicine and Pro Sports Performance.
There will be two more banquets this school year, honoring winter and spring high school sports participants:
- March 26, 2018 (basketball, soccer and wrestling)
- May 14, 2018 (baseball, softball, tennis, and track & field)
