A Rich History of Supporting Scottsdale Education
The Charros support Scottsdale Unified School District by investing not only dollars but their time as well, through the Charro Liaison Program where 30 members – boots on the ground – work directly with each of SUSD’s 30 schools, delivering programs, resources, and scholarships.
Teacher Support
Each year, the Scottsdale Charros honor Outstanding Teachers from each of SUSD’s 30 schools. We also directly fund projects at SUSD schools through Charro Education. Liaison Grants are intended to provide financial assistance for projects, equipment and programs related to the classroom, athletics or infrastructure that are not currently funded through traditional funding streams. All awards and grants are coordinated by each schools’ principal.
Student Scholarships
The Scottsdale Charros offer six scholarships to high school seniors who are Scottsdale residents and/or graduating from Scottsdale Unified School District. Scholarship applications are assessed by a review panel based on the student’s overall record of achievements and activities with an appraisal of the qualities of intellect and character by student-selected references.
Liaison Program
The Charros support SUSD by investing not only dollars but their time as well, through the Charro Liaison Program. What makes our Liaison program so special? There are 30 members – boots on the ground – dedicated to working with each of our 30 schools, bringing programs, resources and scholarships to the schools and recognizing the district’s outstanding students and educators.
Project Graduation
Each year, five high schools benefit from Charros donations to fund their Project Graduation events. The Charros will not fund costs for trips outside of Arizona such as Disneyland or Six Flags. This application is typically completed by the PTO. Please coordinate with your school’s principal as applications are limited to one, per school, per fiscal year.
Charro Promise
Through targeted training, mentorship, and strategic partnerships, the Charro Promise aims to build a thriving ecosystem of support that creates pathways to stable employment, economic mobility, and career advancement for Scottsdale youth. By fostering collaboration and innovation, we work to create a diverse and resilient labor force for the future.
Coronado Promise
Seniors at Coronado Hight School can apply for the opportunity to receive up to $6,000 to cover two years of tuition at one of the ten Maricopa Community Colleges or at an Arizona certificate-granting, regionally accredited technical training/trade school. More than 100 Coronado grads have taken advantage of this program which also includes mentoring and technology support.
Youth Luncheon & Baseball Clinic
The Scottsdale Charros are dedicated to serving and supporting SUSD students, teachers and schools through a broad spectrum of educational programs, including the Youth Luncheon & Baseball Clinic. The 2025 Youth Luncheon is scheduled for April 7 at Scottsdale Stadium. More information will be shared with principals by the District.
Annual Education Awards
For 38 years, the Scottsdale Charros have hosted outstanding teachers, outstanding students, scholarship winners, and their families at the Annual Education Awards each April. City of Scottsdale and SUSD leadership join the Charros in celebrating this amazing and deserving group of individuals.
